Mechanical & Electrical Manager

LOCATION: Vancouver, BC & Yellowknife, NWT

We are looking for an experienced M&E Manager to oversee the management of the mechanical and electrical scopes of work for the Stanton Hospital project in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. This position will be initially based out of Vancouver and later out of Yellowknife so the ability to relocate and work a fly-in/fly-out arrangement is critical.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing leadership and coordination of mechanical & electrical construction management staff allocated to the project and managing the performance of the team.
  • Ensuring delivery of agreed mechanical & electrical construction performance targets for the defined project.
  • Ensuring consistency, integrity, and timely delivery of M&E design throughout the project.
  • Liaising with client teams to ensure that the design and co-ordination issues identified are addressed.
  • Managing all aspects of work and site control for the construction phase of a project on behalf of the Project Manager.
  • Preparing M&E project schedule for construction and commissioning activities.
  • Planning and coordinating all on-site M&E activities to comply with applicable owner, Bird and government specifications, requirements and codes
  • Performing progress reporting and executing change management processes.
  • Monitoring and controlling project schedule and costs as they relate to M&E activities.
To be considered for this position, you must have a Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering background and at least 10 years of relevant experience as a Lead Project Manager in the specifications, engineering, design, construction and start-up for M&E systems.  

Ideal candidates will have experience as a Project Manager in a construction environment, preferably with a Contractor as well as experience managing the design and construction phases of large institutional projects and/or PPP experience.   

Your demonstrated leadership and project management skills will support your collaborative approach to delivering results.  You effectively provide overall supervision, coordination and scheduling of M&E activities and have a thorough understanding of applicable M&E regulatory requirements and industry practices.
