Construction Safety Officer

Location: Lower Mainland, BC

The Construction Safety Officer is primarily responsible for overseeing and administering the Bird Safety Program and monitoring safety compliance on the assigned project.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain statistics and records and monitor accident/incident frequencies and safety violations; conduct investigations and complete related documentation.
  • Assist in the planning and start up of new projects with respect to safety issues.
  • Inventory safety related training of workers; conduct new worker safety orientations.
  • Regularly monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors; conduct site
  • inspections and institute remedial action if required.
  • Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may impact on the work being performed.
Qualifications:
  • CSO Certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of field safety experience, preferably in a construction environment
  • Minimum First Aid Level 2 (Level 3 preferable)
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Results driven who ensures the right course of action is taken
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Able to work shift work if necessary
