Electrical/IMIT Manager (Yellowknife, Northwest Territories)

We are looking for a seasoned project management professional, preferably with P3, design-build experience to oversee and manage and the design and contractual obligations for the Stanton Territorial Hospital Project located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. 

To qualify for this highly specialized role, candidates must have extensive experience with construction projects and expertise as a project management professional with: 
  1. proven expertise in overseeing and managing the project management activities for multi-million dollar construction projects; 
  2. highly advanced knowledge of engineering and building design; and 
  3. experience co-ordinating the project's design with the applicable Federal, Provincial and City/Municipal governments in an effort to reduce conflicts, delays, etc. 
In addition, the position requires a project management professional who possesses a proven ability to achieve success in ensuring project planning and costs remain within contractual parameters. An inability to meet such parameters would be detrimental to the company's current agreement with the Northwest Government and the overall Stanton Territorial Hospital Project.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Reviewing existing conditions, conceptual plans, drawings and specifications, and obtaining additional data and information necessary for the completion of accurate design drawings and specifications by design consultant;
  • Co-ordinating the project's design with the applicable Federal, Provincial and City/Municipal governments in an effort to reduce conflicts, delays, etc.;
  • Regular and timely reporting on work assigned with senior executives and communicate project technical and administrative issues to be addressed;
  • Liaising with other engineering disciplines, project staff responsible for design coordination and construction of the station infrastructure and systems, design consultants, regulatory agencies and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the project design is compatible and meets all Stanton Territorial Hospital project requirements;
  • Meeting with internal and external personnel to co-ordinate the work of consultants and Stanton Territorial Hospital project forces toward the completion of the project's design drawings and contract specifications;
  • Reviewing proposals and quotations from consultants and contractors for adequacy of design, compliance with specifications on contract documents, cost effectiveness;
  • Co-ordinating with the project staff and other internal and external stakeholders with respect to checking designs, drawings and specifications prepared by consultants for technical accuracy and completeness, constructability, maintainability and compliance with Commission standards and applicable codes;
  • Preparing work plans with schedules for the design and construction phases of capital and operating budget projects;
  • Co-ordinating and monitoring the progress of design work to ensure that deadlines are met;
  • Reviewing and processing of proposed design changes, and contract change orders for impact on the scope of the project; and
  • Developing and preparing project summaries, justifications, site inspections, preparing associated reports for approval of projects and contracts, budgets and schedules, etc. as well as periodic project status reports noting changes from prior periods, areas of concern, etc.
Qualified candidates must have the willingness and ability to relocate to the Northwest Territories for the duration of the project which is expected to be complete in 2018.
