Throwback Thursday: Bird since 1920

Foundation for the Pump House at Caron, Saskatchewan - water supply for Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The water from Saskatchewan River at Riverhurst flowed by open ditch to the sand basin at Caron. The water filtered through the sand and pumped from sand point system line and then by pressure pump to storage at Moose Jaw. This system was installed in the winter of 1939 and 1940. Bird Construction owned the first sand point dewater system in Saskatchewan - purchased 1938 / Picture taken 1940 - July. Pump House excavation, pile driving and concrete pouring. Superintendent - Jack Martin. John Irving - dewatering and pile driving.
