A Message from Daniel

I’d like to thank all those who have sent messages of support. They have been a huge comfort during the past couple of weeks, not only to myself, but to my close family and friends. I really can’t convey how grateful I am to all those who contacted me. I wrote my message at 2am one night in an effort to clear my head, which was spinning with so many thoughts and fears that I couldn’t sleep. Writing the message was not the hard part, posting it online the next morning was. It took support from my fiancé Holly to convince me to post it. I am so glad she did. It felt as if a huge weight had been lifted from me.

The response since has been beyond anything I could have imagined. I have been humbled by the sheer volume of messages I have received, most of which are from people I have never even met. Even more humbling is the effect this post has had on those affected by cancer and the personal stories that have been relayed to me.

I now realise that my thoughts and fears were not mine alone, but shared with countless others.

Just a quick update on the fundraising — I’ve currently raised over $7,000 and there’s a couple of events later this month that are being run in aid of this so I’m leaving the donation page open until the end of May, so there’s plenty of time for people to still donate at:
