Bird provided conceptual design and pre-construction services, including consultation on available land options close to their existing facilities. While the original intent was to build behind their current training facility, Bird assisted the client in obtaining member approval to expand their Edmonton campus by purchasing an adjacent property that had preferential zoning regulations for building height. As a result, the 18-metre-tall facility was built without zoning issues.

Bird completed the project two months ahead of schedule and enforced stringent industrial safety standards for this unique undertaking. The team was able to successfullysimulate an industrial site within a commercial building envelope by applying Bird’sextensive understanding and knowledge of industrial construction.

The world-class facility, which has already received international interest, features 30 different training programs including the boilermakers’ exclusive master riggerscertification program. This facility has the capacity to offer training options for all phases of its members’ careers under one roof.
