The project included two contracts - one with EPCOR for the underground piping, excavation and concrete foundations and the second contract is with Hitachi for the turbine generator foundation. The two contracts combined involved placing over 54,000 cubic yards of concrete in eight months. The largest foundation on this project consisted of three concrete pours of 3,500 cubic yards each for the boiler house. These pours required the use of four concrete pumps and 45 concrete trucks from three different batch plants.
The work was performed in a congested area with several contractors requiring simultaneous access. As a result of meticulous planning and coordination by all involved, the civil work was successfully completed.
