Kenaston Common Retail

Bird successfully delivered this multi-phased development of a 46 acre site. The first phase of building pad preparation included excavation, backfill, underground services, roadways, parking lots and street lighting. A major challenge was the excessive silt content of the in-situ soil, making the area unstable for construction.

Bird provided a cost-benefit analysis that resulted in the removal of the silt deposit in the most cost effective manner. Through successive phases of development the project has developed into one of Winnipeg’s largest retail destinations. In addition to the several multi-tenant buildings, the project included a number of stand-alone stores for large national retail tenants including Golf Town, HSBC, RONA, Nygard, Petland, Indigo Books, .
