Maple Leaf Self Storage Facility

Erection of the structural steel for the Maple Leaf Self Storage facility required material to be lifted over the exterior walls. Construction materials were hung on the tilt-up panels prior to the roof installation. In consideration of the surrounding community the design for this location was customized to include brick slices implanted in the concrete exterior, a green roof and a glazed wall with images of cascading leaves.

Proximity of the site to the Capilano River required significant environmental controls and preventative measures. The native sedimentary deposits along the river also necessitated major excavation and back-filling with engineered material to ensure sufficient structural capacity. Bird’s previous experience constructing storage facilities for Larco enabled the team to address challenges with ease.
