Matsqui Institution - Phase 1 and II Expansion and Renovation

Phase 1 consisted of a medical hospital, inmate cell blocks for over 400 and service buildings, together with security fencing and road structure. Phase 2 included bulk demolition of existing prison buildings, seismic upgrade and extensive renovations of various structures. Also included was the construction of a new greenhouse complex and a native spirituality centre.

Both phases required attention to safety and security features including detention doors and hardware, door control and fire alarm integration. The construction of 10 separate buildings with large areas of occupied space also required meticulous scheduling of activities and timely procurement of project materials.
