The elevated portion of the coker went through the winter under heated enclosure in a congested work area. The lack of lay down space required significantly more planning and coordination. An additional elevated structure, the vacuum tower, involved a ring beam atop 12 columns that were over 63 feet high. Bird simultaneously completed the concrete and shallow underground piping work in the nearby sulphur block under separate contract.
