Serving six northwest communities under one roof is the new Royal Vista Multi-Service Facility and Fire Station 34. Cohabitating in a highly functional space are police personnel, fire fighters, Calgary Community Standards and Alberta Health Services. The facility features three apparatus bays and all the features of a full-service fire station.
Targeting LEED Gold certification, the new building features site irrigation, a green roof and high efficiency water and light fixtures. Designed as a post-disaster facility, the scope of work included duplicating all high-efficiency condensing boilers and distribution pumps to ensure operational continuance in the event of a disaster. The usage of the mechanical system components are also balanced between the twin units in order to avoid excessive wear on one system.
For decades, Bird has successfully maintained a positive relationship with the City of Calgary to deliver over 35 projects and has recently been awarded the contract to build the new 28,800 m2 Seton Recreation Facility. The team looks forward to working and building with the city on future projects.
