Working with incomplete drawings, Bird began construction with concrete foundations. With no time in the schedule for delay, the team used structural metal stud framing and load bearing masonry walls to expedite floor construction. The exterior finishing consists of prefabricated panels that were made in shop and installed on-site. Throughout construction, Bird provided cost-saving recommendations to meet the client’s desired budget and schedule.
This project marks the fourth building that have been constructed by Bird for Sheridan College. Past projects include Sheridan’s Centre for Social Innovation at the Davis Campus and the Davis Welcome Centre in Brampton, Ontario, and the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga, Ontario. With an over 70 per cent repeat client rate, Bird’s relationship with Sheridan College continues to grow.
