A new three-storey residence addition to the existing residence and nursing home, the Sisters of Charity project is a steel frame structure with masonry cladding and metal composite panels. Prior to construction, Bird demolished the former residence with a special request made by the owners - to preserve the residential treasures including ceiling medallions, doors and the fireplace mantel. Through careful coordination, the team successfully transferred and incorporated original pieces into the new residence.
The new residence is connected to the existing nursing home via a 53-foot clear span pedway. Within the nursing home, the team upgraded the sprinkler system, and renovated the elevator and kitchen.
