Bird is part of the consortium, Boreal Health Partnership, which will design, build, finance and maintain the Stanton Territorial Hospital Project. Bird is the managing partner of the construction joint-venture with Clark Builders. Bird Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bird, will also have a minority equity interest in the concession.
The new hospital is located on the same site as the current facility. It will include a floor area of over 27,270 square metres with 105 inpatient beds. The new facility will support the needs of the residents of the Northwest Territories and the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. Outpatient and inpatient services will include emergency, medical imaging, dialysis, obstetrics, pediatric, cardio and mental health departments as well as day procedure and surgery suites.
Specific enhancements will include: all inpatient beds will be replaced with single inpatient rooms; a new and larger emergency department; a new and larger medical laboratory, and additional space for diagnostic imaging; and enhanced medical technology to modernize hospital operations.
