University of Northern British Columbia’s Teaching & Learning Centre
PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA
|CLIENT:||UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA|
|CONTRACT TYPE:||CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT|
|Project SIZE:||92,000 SQ. FT.|
The centre surrounds a spectacular central atrium where glass walls stretch to 70 feet in height. The elevators that travel up one side of the atrium before disappearing into the upper reaches are glass enclosed. The glass and wood materials used for the building reflect the northern British Columbia lumber heritage and the surrounding campus buildings.
The centre consists of an east and west block connected by the atrium. While the west block houses continuing studies, disability services, computer science, physics, math and graduate students; the east block contains the nursing, social work and business programs, learning skills, environmental planning and geographic information systems.
