L'\u00e9tendue des travaux comprenait le remplacement du pont levant Sir Ambrose Shea, le r\u00e9alignement de la route adjacente 100 et la d\u00e9molition du pont existant une fois la nouvelle structure termin\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\">Le projet comprenait la construction de deux chevalets temporaires de 58 m de long utilisant des pieux tubulaires de 600 mm et une plateforme pour supporter une grue sur chenilles de 150 tonnes. Ces chevalets ont permis la construction de deux nouvelles piles centrales au c\u0153ur de la baie de Placentia. Le nouveau pont levant comprenait environ 9 290 m de pieux tubulaires de 325 mm ; 2 200 m\u00b2 de palplanches utilis\u00e9s pour former un batardeau ; 4 100 m\u00b3 de b\u00e9ton ; 1 000 tonnes d'acier de structure ; ainsi que des composants m\u00e9caniques et \u00e9lectriques n\u00e9cessaires pour permettre au tablier central levant de s'ouvrir pour la circulation maritime dans le chenal \u00e9troit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lors de la construction, nous avons rencontr\u00e9 des mar\u00e9es de plus de trois m\u00e8tres combin\u00e9es \u00e0 des courants rapides. Les exigences de pieutage pour le pilier sud et le cul\u00e9e sud ont consid\u00e9rablement augment\u00e9 en raison des changements dans les conditions g\u00e9otechniques, n\u00e9cessitant des pieux for\u00e9s plus profonds. Apr\u00e8s l'ach\u00e8vement de la superstructure du pont, l'acier de structure a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9rig\u00e9. La trav\u00e9e centrale a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le plus grand d\u00e9fi de construction, n\u00e9cessitant la fermeture temporaire de la voie de navigation pour permettre l'installation d'une trav\u00e9e de 100 tonnes. Le pont achev\u00e9 avait une longueur totale de 100 m, comprenant deux trav\u00e9es d'approche et une trav\u00e9e levante centrale de 30 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
