The new centre for technology and innovation (CTI) is located at the existing Humber College North Campus and will house functional areas for the applied research and advancements in technology and innovation, including modernized classrooms and labs to support hi-tech industrial and manufacturing equipment for student and industry partners. Achieving LEED®® Platinum and Toronto Green Standard (TGS) Tier 1, the facility is also using BIM technology. The use of BIM modelling in developing the project helps the college and the stakeholders visualize their project, designers are able to test alternatives and trade contractors can plan their work more effectively, ultimately staying on schedule and on budget.
La structure se compose de poutres sur caissons, d'une structure en béton coulé sur place, d'une toiture en acier et d'un attique. L'intérieur abritera une série d'espaces de collaboration. Dans l'esprit de l'échange d'idées, Bird et notre équipe de conception ont collaboré au développement et à la mise en œuvre de C.LIVE, l'application de construction phare conçue pour Humber, qui sera utilisée comme outil de navigation pour fournir des informations sur les espaces uniques du centre et sur la façon dont ils sont construits.
