The two buildings boast storage capacity of approximately 405,000 tons of potash. The complexity of these buildings include over 85,000 tons of structural steel and a total of 20,920 cubic metres of concrete - nearly 14 football fields can fit inside these two buildings. The project included 61-metre long reclaim tunnels used to transfer the stored potash onto conveyors and out into trucks and railcars.
The building erection required extensive coordination and planning as the massive trusses - as long as 58 metres and weighing 44 tons each - were assembled using five 500-ton cranes. Bird's ability to assess and analyze the multifaceted logistics helped to boost productivity and subsequently yield a shortened production schedule.
