MacKenzie Pumphouse and Reservoir Facility

Project Overview

The one-storey masonry block building was constructed utilizing sloped roof trusses and a veneer envelope. Perched above the 366-metre deep reservoir, Bird used a self-erecting crane to install the rigid and durable lattice form work girder, which allowed the walls and concrete roofing to be formed.

The project required 2,144 cubic metres of concrete. With the majority of the concrete work completed during the winter months, extensive hoarding and heating was required. Bird also used a waterproofing additive in the concrete walls to increase the protection of the concrete from deterioration due to harsh environmental conditions.
