The Roy McMurtry Youth Centre project is a build-finance project constructed for Infrastructure Ontario as agent for the Province of Ontario. The facility accommodates youth in detention and/or serving secure custody sentences.
Designed to provide an innovative youth focused environment, the 192-bed facility is divided into six residential-style cottage units. Other features include a new administrative facility, two renovated buildings used as an education centre and kitchen/workshop, and a chapel.

The facility is designed and constructed to achieve LEED®registered® Silver certification. Some of the major objectives were to preserve as many of the existing trees as possible on site to provide ‘screening’ for the facility. The purpose of this new campus-style facility is to offer a safe, secure and healthy rehabilitative living environment for the effective management of youth in conflict with the law.
