Wing Kei Greenview Phase II

Project Overview

This four-storey, 78-bed, long-term care facility is Bird’s third Wing Kei project. The building includes three residential floors, a community space, and a main floor parkade with loading dock. Each resident floor is directly connected to the adjacent facility and includes group gathering areas, services, and nursing stations. Suites include sheet flooring, sloped open showers, closed closets, and rough-ins for future kitchenettes. Outdoor conveniences include a front lawn green space, and a raised, rear outdoor garden and walking area.

As a repeat client, Bird continues to foster a great rapport with the client to ensure every building exceeds the owner’s expectations. Brought onto the project early in the design process, Bird and the consultant were able to offer many valuable solutions that maximized the client’s return on investment because of this early collaboration with the entire project team.

During construction Bird coordinated clash detection via the use of Building Information Modeling and Virtual Design to reduce the amount of reactive construction/coordination required. Bird also coordinated the Infection Control Program for Wing Kei and Alberta Health Services, ensuring a high level of cleanliness was maintained, and regular reviews were conducted.
