Bruce B GIS Equipment Installation
Bird is performing the installation works for the gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) assembly at the Bruce B switch yard located at Bruce Power. Bird completed the shell building to house the interior GIS components under a separate contract with Hydro One Networks Inc. and developed a relationship with ABB through coordination meetings for turnover of the GIS facility.

Darlington Waste Storage Building 3 (SB3)
Bird successfully completed the Darlington Waste Management Facility’s Used Fuel Storage Structure 3 (SB3), achieving a significant milestone as the first OPG nuclear storage building constructed under ISO 9001 standards. This transition from the previous N299 standards for spent fuel storage led to notable cost and schedule efficiencies without compromising quality.

500 kV GIS and Relay Building
The new two-storey building is to be specifically designed and constructed within the perimeter of the existing energized 500kV switchyard at the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station to house the 500kV GIS switchgear, relay and battery equipment. This will replace the existing ABCBs in the Bruce B SS switchyard that are at end-of-life.

OPG Darlington Demineralized Water Treatment Plant
Bird, in partnership with EPCOR and Ontario Power Generation (OPG), successfully delivered the new Darlington Water Treatment Plant—a critical infrastructure project ensuring a reliable supply of pharmaceutical-quality demineralized water to OPG’s nuclear steam systems for the next 30 years. This 2,800 sq. m. facility, located at the secure Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, was strategically designed and built outside the protected area, allowing operations to continue uninterrupted at the existing plant.
