Bird’s scope of work included the full site development, underground utilities, building erection, mechanical and electrical work, and the installation of the large overhead cranes to handle the materials in the facility. The project was completed in two phases, starting with the building construction, and then moving on to the interior fit-out and site service installations. The second phase of the project was on the critical path of Bruce Power’s MCR program and had an aggressive schedule to achieve substantial completion to enable the MCR work to proceed on schedule. Bird’s ISO 9001:2015 certification was a requirement for this project and added further value during the execution, ensuring that quality management standards were maintained at the highest level. This was the third contract awarded to Bird by this client, following the successful execution of the MCR Office Complex and MCR Storage Buildings projects.
