Enbridge T-South Compressor Stations
30MW compressor stations required for the T-South Reliability and Expansion program. Bird’s ability to manage multiple concurrent projects provided Enbridge with consistency across the work sites, live lessons learned which were applied in a real-time basis, and increased efficiencies in construction.
The stations were added to the existing Hixon, Australian, and 150 Mile House locations, and involved both greenfield construction of the facilities at each location and brownfield tie-in activities to put the new units into operation on the existing line. Scopes of work self-performed by Bird included:
-
Facility piping and pipeline tie-ins, including all shutdown activities associated with the tie-in of 42” piping in the brownfield area of the facility along the existing Right-of-Way
- Installation of all equipment, including the PGT25+ gas turbine and PCL802 compressor unit
- All structural steel and concrete foundation installations
- Pre-commissioning services and commissioning assistance
Bird also worked with both local and Indigenous subcontractors for:
- Steel and concrete pile installations
- Earthworks activities, including general preparation and grading of the sites, and construction of new access roads
- Installation of pre-engineered buildings to house the new compressor units
- Electrical, instrumentation, and controls including new 25kV overhead power extensions
