During initial excavation for the two main building foundations, unexpected poor soil conditions were encountered. Bird Heavy Civil worked with the owner to mobilize additional equipment and craft resources to excavate and dispose of the poor soil and backfill to compact the site with suitable rock fill from the owner’s on-site quarry. The project required over 95,000 cubic yards of soil to be excavated and 84,000 cubic yards of backfill to be placed and compacted.
