Providence Care Centre
Providence Care Centre is a 160-bed, three-storey, long-term care and supportive living facility built overlooking the picturesque Fish Creek Park. Featuring a state-of-the-art design, open-concept dining and gathering spaces, along with a full commercial kitchen and laundry facilities, Providence has been called one of the premier senior’s facilities in the City of Calgary.
The building consists of a concrete and steel structure with masonry veneer and hardi-board cladding. The facility features three open courtyard spaces and exterior views from all suites, and accommodates various levels of care, assigned by floor. The first floor is designated to dementia/age associated cognitive decline and long-term care patients, while the second and third floors focus on supportive living for both seniors and adults with special needs. The building also features a wing specifically dedicated to the care of retired clergy.
Bird developed and lead the review of the Infection Prevention and Control Plan (IPCP) with the project team members, ensuring proper implementation at all stages of the project. By performing regular IPC inspections, Bird was able to ensure all necessary checklists and procedures were properly implemented and documented as per Alberta Health Services (AHS) requirements. Bird provided on-site training and support for subcontractors in the implementation of the IPCP, Construction Waste Management Plan, Indoor Air Quality Management (IAQ) Plan and Erosion Sediment Control (ESC) Plan. Inspections were performed weekly and were photo documented, and monitored throughout construction. Bird worked closely with the team to produce a high-quality facility that meets the diverse care needs of its tenants.
