Laboratories are situated North of the main circulation corridor and the offices are in the South portion. There is a secondary secured corridor providing access to the various labs on both floors. Visitors are greeted at reception and have access to a “non-secure” waiting area and meeting room. The rest of the building is secured access with corresponding levels of security for office and labs. The Lab building contains the following components: National Forensic Identification Support Services, Evidence Management, Search and Evidence Recovery, Biology, Toxicology, Firearms, Administration and Support services.

The RCMP Forensic Lab integrated LEED performance goals and sustainability initiatives into the design of the building. The project design team focused on maximizing the building’s sustainable features in order to achieve our goal of LEED Gold Certification.
