Rocky View County Hall

Bird was awarded the contract for the construction of a new three-storey, 9,667-square-metre, concrete and steel County Hall for the County of Rocky View. The project scope included the construction of a basement and large parking area. The interior space housed the Council Chambers and areas for Legislative Services, Corporate Properties, Planning Services, and Recreation and Community Services. Exterior finishes on the building consisted of composite metal panels and masonry veneer with a Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) roof. A radon management system was installed with venting through the slab to the exterior. This addition to the scope of work necessitated pushing the structural work into one of the coldest winters in recent history. Extensive use of heat and hoarding/tarps was required to thaw the slab in order to successfully install the radon system.
