Targeting LEED Gold certification, the new building features site irrigation, a green roof and high efficiency water and light fixtures. Designed as a post-disaster facility, the scope of work included duplicating all high-efficiency condensing boilers and distribution pumps to ensure operational continuance in the event of a disaster. The usage of the mechanical system components are also balanced between the twin units in order to avoid excessive wear on one system.

For decades, Bird has successfully maintained a positive relationship with the City of Calgary to deliver over 35 projects and has recently been awarded the contract to build the new 28,800 m2 Seton Recreation Facility. The facility will feature twin arenas, theatre/daycare, library, competition pool, leisure pools, dive tank, hot tubs, water slides, flume rider, a second floor running track/fitness area, gymnasium with three courts and administrative areas.
