The scope of work for this project was comprised of an office and warehouse fit out for Alberta Health Services. The construction consisted of an EMS station with offices for administration staff and garage areas for storage/maintenance of emergency vehicles. Interior fit out included offices, meeting rooms, lunch area and reception.
Due to the aggressive schedule, Bird implemented several schedule enhancement techniques to deliver the project on time. Upon contract award, the project team identified and ordered long lead items to prevent schedule slippage or delays. Double shifts were implemented so crews were onsite 24 hours a day, and Bird coordinated with trade contractors to share resources. Most importantly, the project team maintained clear lines of communication with the owner so approvals were done in a timely matter, ensuring no delays.
