With a clear centre span and height totalling 13 storeys, the construction of this unique facility necessitated special accommodations to ensure site safety and compliance with Bird’s rigorous safety standards and the Canadian Forces Base’s operational requirements.

The maintenance hangar features many advanced technologies including Canada’s first telescoping platform that descends from an overhead gantry that allows workers increased overhead access to all aircraft within the hangar. Also a specialty foam fire suppression system has been installed to aid in the case of a fire. If there is a fire outbreak, the foam will be released, containing the fire in its immediate location.
