Offering many contributions to the project during the pre-construction and construction phases, Bird successfully completed the new 34,000 square foot fire department headquarters in Airdrie. The fire hall includes a high-quality training center, five fire truck bays, two ambulance bays, ten dorm rooms, a fitness room, office spaces, break rooms and a hose tower.

Bird’s design initiatives have included the installation of insulation inside the beams to increase energy efficiency within the fire hall and the use of an alternate integral concrete hardener - all of these contributions have reflected a positive impact on the constructability, durability, schedule and cost of the project. Construction also involved sustainable design principles including solar power and permeable paver parking stalls that will improve the energy efficiency of the building.
