The Aquatic Ecosystems Research Laboratory features a four-storey atrium lobby, a 150-seat lecture theatre, a wet lab research area, and a state-of-the-art immersion lab. The facility incorporates design initiatives that include a passive air handling system, optimum light levels, sustainable building operations, and many other innovative building solutions.
Key in the process was the need to assemble all documentation and to ensure that the specified materials and procedures met green building methods. The project was a success as a result of the strong working relationship between University of British Columbia Properties Trust, the design group, and the building team.
