The Burlington Performing Arts Centre facility includes a main stage theatre under a 75-foot high, five-level fly tower with seating for 730 on two levels and a studio theatre with capacity for 221 people.
The excavation for the facility disclosed unforeseen hydrocarbon contaminated soils. To prevent further contamination of soils during removal, Bird installed an innovative water remediation system featuring the use of granular reactivated carbon. This is the first application of this technology to be implemented underground in North America. The system prevents the transference of volatile organic compounds into the municipal water supply.
