Canon replaced their Canadian corporate headquarters with a new five storey, state-of-the-art sustainable facility.
The building is a cast-in-place concrete structure wrapped in a silvery-white curtainwall with vertical fins of fritted glass as it appears to float above its recessed base of black granite. The interior features a 465 square metre showroom to display Canon’s products and technology with a central atrium spanning all levels. The new facility includes a cafeteria, fitness centre, two-tiered terrace and 500 parking spaces with one level below-grade parking and bike racks. Raised access flooring provides quick access to all mechanical and electrical services.
Sustainable features include the incorporation of natural light, energy-efficient equipment and the reuse of rain water. The building is situated on 18 acres of landscaped terrain with terraces that overlook a naturalized stormwater pond. The project is targeting LEED® Gold certification.
