The completion of Chilliwack General Hospital’s redevelopment project concluded on the same day as the hospital’s 100th anniversary. The new two-storey building features a shell-in structure over the new emergency department. The expansion features a translucent panel system adjacent to all acute care beds; a first for health care on the west coast. The system provides floor to ceiling diffused daylight.
The eight phases of work within the existing hospital included renovating the entrances, food service, waiting areas, specimen collection, gift shop, MRI, doctors’ lounge, a future clinic, medical day care, and ambulatory care departments.
