The Comox Valley Airport Terminal was originally designed to accommodate 170,000 passengers annually. Bird faced a significant challenge halfway during construction of the terminal - a strategic decision to increase the size of the facility by 25%.

During construction, Bird overcame the technicalities and coordination necessary for work on an active airfield including scheduling, cranes, apron lighting and military security.

The strong working relationship with both the owner representative and architect yielded a collaborative and positive experience, and culminated in the completion of the new terminal building on time and on budget.
