Bird provided protection for the 5,000 square foot existing pre-engineered building by constructing a building to encase it. The construction consisted of cast-in-place foundation piles, which were required to support the 190 piece precast concrete structure that was loaded using a 500 ton crane.

The location of this project was particularly difficult since the Dorsey converter station is located inside of an operating Manitoba Hydro facility within close proximity to high voltage electrical lines. Bird’s team exercised extensive pre-planning and safety procedures to complete this job successfully and safely.
