Phase 1 of this expansion project involved upgrading Enbridge’s Line 67 from Saskatchewan through Manitoba, incorporating six pump stations. The scope of work included the supply and installation, labour, material, and equipment for the civil (excavate, screw and precast piling, concrete work and backfill), structural steel, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation work in support of one mainline 5,750 hp pump/ motor unit, one new retrofitted 5kV VFD, ESB modifications, existing pump shelter extension, and a tie-in to the existing sump system work.   

Phase 2 involved the construction of pump stations in Manitoba (St. Leon and West Souris) and Saskatchewan (Odessa and Langbank) to increase the capacity of Line 67 from southeastern Alberta to southern Manitoba. Bird’s scope of work consisted of performing the civil work (earthworks, piling, reinforcing steel for the concrete work, and concrete work), structural steel pipe supports and platforms, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls work. 

Work at the Gretna station for the Enbridge Line 3 System Flexibility Project was also added to the contract. This scope consisted of a replacement of a portion of Line 3, and included civil work (earthworks, piling), mechanical work (large and small bore piping, tie-ins, testing), electrical work (cable, grounding / bonding, trays and conduits, terminations, instrumentation) and miscellaneous metals.
