The upgrades included the demolition and replacement of the roofing membrane on six Skytrain stations and 10 substations along the Expo Line, scaffold hoarding, installation in the form of stair access, guideway, and weather protection.

With the work being done during peak operational times, safety was of utmost concern. Working with Translink, Bird provided an optimal work and safety plan which included providing scaffolding with netting over the tracks, allowing work to be done above and stopping any tools or materials from falling, and thorough cleaning during each shift to keep the tracks and area clear of any tripping or hazardous materials.
