The Justina M. Barnicke Gallery features a collection of historical and contemporary Canadian art. Aside from its monthly exhibits, the gallery houses an art collection valued at over $10 million dating from 1921 to present.

In 2009 the gallery underwent an extensive interior renovation managed by Bird. The job entailed restoring the main gallery’s existing terrazzo floor, plaster ceiling, entrances and signage. A significant upgrade to the project included the installation of acoustic isolators to limit the vibration and noise disturbance generated by the athletic facility located directly above the gallery.
