Challenged by the remote location and scarce labour market, Bird secured local materials and labour before drawing on its Calgary District resources to expedite this time-sensitive project.

To keep the border crossing operational during construction, Bird implemented phased construction to accommodate traffic flow. In addition, construction was delayed for five months due to unforeseen property ownership challenges. To complete the project on time, Bird shifted its focus to fast tracking the other three buildings. The new border crossing is LEED Silver certified and is expected to serve the Kingsgate community for the next 60 years.
