Bird worked with First Capital to transform the former industrial site at 85 Laird Drive into Leaside Village, a vibrant new commercial development project with eight new retail stores.
The site is unique because it includes a heritage building that was once the Canadian Northern Railway’s locomotive shop. Bird converted the heritage property into a Longo’s grocery store, the anchor for the property. The building modifications included offices on the second floor.
To attain the urban design setting the various buildings include different façade finishes such as brick, stone, concrete and aluminium paneling. The building is LEED Gold certified.
