The Quarry Park Recreation Facility is located in a former industrial area that is being transformed into an office park and residential community. The centre is LEED Gold certified and is comprised of a second floor running track/fitness area (YMCA), two swimming pools, large gymnasium, daycare and and the Calgary Public Library.

The project consisted of high end finishes including large curtain wall, composite panels and interior wood glulam beams and columns. As the project was built on an old landfill, a methane collection system and structural slab on grades were incorporated into the design.

On the project site, Bird used many electronic tools to ensure the project stayed on schedule and on budget. CORSafety e-Compliance Tool was used to help and control safety documents, as well as Navisworks, 3D building information modeling software, to identify problem areas and provide solutions that may not have been evident in the 2D drawings. The team also used Multivista to track changes through construction via photography, video and web-cam services.
