Bird completed the renovation of seven Shaw Freedom Mobile stores in western Canada: three stores in Calgary, and one store each in Red Deer, AB, Lethbridge, AB, Medicine Hat, AB, and Kamloops, BC.
The scope of work consisted of the demolition of the interiors of existing stores and the installation of new flooring, ceilings, walls, lighting, and fixtures. As Shaw is a national communications service provider, a large component of the renovations was electrical upgrading, which enabled the spaces to be digitally interactive and showcased Shaw’s technological and innovative capabilities.
A major challenge Bird encountered on this project was the aggressive, 
2-month schedule set by the Owner. Bird managed the short timelines
by coordinating extensively with all stakeholders, and by using open and transparent dialogue to express challenges with proposed solutions to
the owner for their review. Because store opening dates were fixed, Bird implemented longer workdays to ensure all work would be finished in time.
Also key to the success of this project was Bird’s use of Procore software to track the quality of both materials and workmanship. By documenting the construction process closely, there were minimal deficiencies to address at the close of the project.
