Bird completed the transformation of the Capri Centre Hotel to the Sheraton Hotel Starwood brand.
The team began the transformation by renovating the main tower and the two-storey west wing comprising of 217 guest rooms. The project involved extensive work within the main floor lobby, club lounge, presidential suite and fitness centre.
Challenges during the renovation included minimizing disruption to daily activities within the hotel as it remained open and operational throughout the entire project. The team carefully sequenced and prioritized work to systematically release completed floors to accommodate the hotel’s occupancy levels. With only one elevator within the 14-storey structure being shared by staff, guests and the construction crew, Bird craned structural steel, concrete and finishing materials through an upper floor window that was removed and later restored to complete work on the club lounge.
