While other pow wow arbours are generally large, open and round buildings that First Nations use for important ceremonies, the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour is large enough to accommodate teepees, house pow wows complete with bleacher seating, concession stands and other facilities. Most importantly, the facility is fully enclosed and can be used year-round as a community centre where children can come and learn their songs, language and culture.

Extensive value engineering was the key to this successful project being tendered on budget while meeting its program objectives.
