Bird was brought on to manage the base building restorations to bring the Simmons Building in line with current building codes. The scope of work included renovations to the basement, main floor and upper floor, including upgrading the mechanical and electrical systems and installing a new elevator in the existing shaft. The building was modified to accommodate outdoor patios at ground level and on the roof. Bird refurbished the existing post-and-beam structure and mill flooring as well as re-pointing the exterior brick. All renovations were completed in line with the historical building bylaw which was accomplished by diligent quality management from our construction team.
