The Simon Fraser University Lecture Theatre is integrated into an existing trapezoidal-shaped space above the retail level and below a call centre. The adjacent tenants posed coordination and construction challenges during construction and required modification to existing building components to meet very stringent acoustic requirements.
The lecture space is highlighted by an undulating panelized, corrugated stainless steel ceiling. The technology for this smart classroom includes high definition video projection, video conferencing, 7.1 surround sound audio reproduction and a distributed speech reinforcement system.
