Congruent in design with the rest of campus, Saywell Hall and Blusson Hall are exposed concrete structures highlighted by architectural precast façades that incorporate glulam wood and exterior glass veneer.
Housed within both buildings are classrooms, collaborative space, and research and teaching labs. Together, the two buildings form a large landscaped courtyard with a reflecting pool - a central focus for the complex. Lighting controls and mechanical systems create a 30% reduction in energy consumption. There is an extensive waste management system, green roof technology, and underground cisterns that store water for irrigation.
