Targeting LEED Silver certification, the facility incorporates a design that reflects aboriginal concern for the environment with the use of natural materials - Manitoba Tyndall stone and wood. The facility incorporates numerous green design initiatives including a geothermal heating system and overland drainage system.

The facility accommodates residents in its eight wings, which are all central to the circular core of communal and public areas. The core incorporates an adult day program and a multifunctional central gathering space.
